Welcome to Croton River.com! After my first trip up the Croton River in a kayak I was hooked. Thus Croton River.com was born. From Snorkeling to Boating to Fishing to Birding I believe there is no better place in the world to see so many different species of wildlife.

4/14 - 4/15 2007 - The Ossining and Croton area was hit over the past days by a remarkable Nor Easter. This storm dropped over 7 inches of rain north of NYC. The picture is of Black Rock park in Croton. This is the highest I have ever seen the Croton River! Flooding was a major issue all over Westchester County. 2/17/2006 - The Eagles are back in the river. Even though there is not a lot of ice on surrounding waters you there are still a few eagles to be seen from the boat ramp. There is also a dead animal on the ice on the teatown lake and there are quite a few raptors dining on the carcass.

8/01/2005 - Crabbing is excellent in the Croton River and right outside the train bridge!

6/12/2005 - I decided to take the kayak out today. I had an incredible experience as well. I was not far from the ramp in Croton and the kayak got hit by two Carp apparently trying to mate. It was pretty cool to see the fish dancing in less than a foot of water. I then moved a little out the way and slipped out the kayak and put on my snorkel gear. I was unable to locate the carp again because they were stirring up the bottom but the snorkeling was fun.

3/30/2005 - So early in the year and it happened already. At approximately 8:15 AM the Croton Fire Department responded to the Croton Boat launch by the Croton River for a canoe stuck under the Train bridge.  There are many obstacles under the bridge and you really have to be careful picking a way through. Both people had life vests on. Please be careful while going under the bridge!

Spotted one lone immature eagle in the tree just above the rock at St. Augustine's at 7:10am this morning 3/30/05. Submitted by Frank Palmietto

3/25/2005 - Well it has been three days now and I have yet to see an Eagle at the boat ramp. I guess they have moved north already. If you have seen any let us know and we will post the sighting. Click Here to submit your sighting

3/16/2005 - Opening day for Stripers! Dust off your pole and get out and catch a keeper! Remember Striped Bass must be 18" or longer above the George Washington Bridge to keep!

Historic house burns on Truesdale Drive.

On 9/15/2004 in the morning shortly after 9:00 AM a Kitchen Fire sparked a fire that would eventually engulf the entire house. Click Here for more

There is no where else in the world where you can see Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Blue Claw Crabs, Blue fish, Striped bass, Brown trout and White Tailed Deer  just to name a few all in the same place!
